Create Your Own Altar
I like to create altars with specific purposes and they are great for honoring specific intentions. Creating an altar sets aside a space in your home (and symbolically, your mind) for things that are important to you that you want to create intention for.
There is no right or wrong way to create your altar, it’s a completely personal piece. Think of it as art–each object you place within its space is symbolic of a specific intention. Even the location of the space itself can serve as an intention symbol, and the altar space as a whole is a physical reminder of what it is that you are creating which grounds your intention into reality.
Your altar doesn’t have to be completely obvious, either–it can blend in with your seasonal home decor right there out in the open for all to see.
You may now be realizing that you have them all around your house already, you just never thought of them that way. That photo wall dedicated to your family that hangs above your couch? That’s an altar. The photos represent the members of your family and the couch is the place where you come together. Your desk? The notepad that’s always sitting there, the pens in the cup, the little inspiration quote you have framed there that you look at every day? Yep. That’s an altar. Your sacred space.
Now you’re suddenly thinking about your home decor in a whole new way.
Altars can be temporary or permanent. It’s totally up to you and what you intend to create with them. Here’s a few that I discovered on Pinterest that I love.

I never thought of looking for altars on Pinterest, Ash. These examples are amazing! I especially love the small blue crystal laden altar. Since I make jewelry and love crystals, it really appeals to me. I may try and create a similar one sometime to mount above my altar. When I painted my small office last year and set it up to contain a jewelry-making area, I finally also created an altar (wish I could include a photo!). Of course! It would reflect our intentions and things we wish to manifest in our lives. But I didn’t think of it that way when I was putting all my pieces in place. Thank you for this lovely post!
